Overview

This is the new Ford Mustang Mach-E 2021. It is the Ford's latest and newest electric car. The electric vehicle(EV) starts at around 40,000 pounds. The price range for Mach-E variants is about 40,000 up till 47,000 pounds. There are several deals offered for this car which can be searched well on internet. But more importantly, the discounts and deals will increase as the car gets a bit older. Now with this vehicle Ford claims to have a very expanded range with this vehicle, together with zero emissions and additional driving assist technologies.


Exterior and Design

Now one thing is for sure, Ford has branded this car as a premium version by adding the tag of mustang in it. The design has been somewhat kept similar to typical mustang style. However, it has been built up as a SUV from Ford.

On the rear end, the car has steeply raked rear window. The rear lights are just like those on the Mustang Coupe. They have put the big pony badge on the back. As said before, there are no Ford badges on this car. Interesting  sort of Mustang from the back, but rather tall and fat from the side. 



On the side, you can really see the mustang influence. The sloping roofline on the rear end, looks very sporty from the side. Talking about the raised height of the SUV, it seems quite a lot. Ground clearance as devised by Ford is a total of 5' 7''. Ford has also done the roof nicely on this car. It gets this special two-tone roof section. It makes it look like a coupe, whereas actually the roof is much higher than you think very clever design feature. Hopefully this does signals that there will be much more space in the back seats.

You get 18 inch alloy wheels, the look and they look a bit puny on the standard version, but on the high spec version you get 19 inch alloy wheels and they look amazing as can be seen in the picture above. 

At the front the long sculptured bonnet is very mustang style. As are the headlamps, and the shape of the grill, and the big pony badge, all depicts a typical Mustang style. Whatsoever, nice job from Ford.  Fake vents around the central blanked out grill. There also are vents beneath the central blacked grill, these vents can open and close depending on whether the electrical systems need cooling or not.




Engine, Power, Transmission and Mechanics

Ford Mustang Mach-E has all powerful motors installed within to drive it, and launch it properly. The GT version of Mustang Mach makes up to 480hp, whereas lesser spec variants make up to 290hp and 346hp. Ford claims that the GT version goes from 0-60 mph  in just 3.5 seconds. Talking of the torque this EV produces includes a range from 400-634 lb.ft of torque. The motors are mounted on rear or both axles depending on the variant. 


Talking of the variants, we shall now look on to different variants offered by Ford for Mustang Mach-E 2021.

1. Ford Mustang Mach-E Select: The SUV variant comes with 266hp, and 428 lb.ft of torque. It gives a estimated 230 miles of range. The additional features include drive assists including collision assists, lane keeping system, reverse sensing system and much more. The version also includes Ford Co-Pilot360. Starting at $42,895.

2. Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1: The version comes with 290hp, and 317 lb.ft of torque. The range given by this version is more then the standard select version. A hefty figure of 305 miles of range estimate is given by Ford. Starting at $50,400.

3. Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium: This is the premium version of Mach-E with 346hp and 428lb.ft of torque. The premium version offers Bang & Olufsen sound system together with added comfort in interior. The range offered by this version is 300 miles. Starting at $47,600.

4.Ford Mustang Mach-E: The most upgraded variant of Mustang Mach-E series. Mach-E GT comes with high end power of  480hp, and an heft torque of 600lb.ft. The range for this version is less, estimated about  250 miles of range. Moreover, this version has a more stylish front design. In addition to this, the electric all-wheel drive delivers exceptional performance and handling. Also the wheels on this version are 20'' cast aluminum wheels. Starting at $59,900.

For this 2021 Mustang Mach-E, you can have two different sizes of battery pack. The normal battery pack which has a usable capacity of 68 kilowatt hours, or the larger capacity one which is 88 kilowatt hours. Moreover, you can have that battery pack with either the rear drive version or the all-wheel drive version. Thus, Ford offers this EV in either front wheel drive or the all-wheel drive. 


Interior Design

On the inside Ford has done a great job, and it is worth it. The cabin materials are really nice and executive. The texture on the dash feels solid and the dashboard design itself is intriguing indeed. I would say Ford are really doing a great job with the interior quality, and they are giving a tough competition to companies like Volkswagen.



The display driver's screes are thin displays, very crisp and clear display. The steering position is adjustable in all directions, together with the seat adjustments, you can resume a sporty driver feel or go for that raised imperious driving position.


The huge central screen which clearly was inspired by Tesla. They Tesla are now rotating them around into landscape which is the better way of doing it. The resolution is good, also it comes with Apple car-play and Android auto that's wireless. The system also has navigation and it's reasonably responsive. This system, one weird thing is that  how they've got this physical volume button in central console. Integrating the volume button would have been much better. Moreover, steering wheel button will be used up to greater extent than this. The climate control is on the screen but they are on the bottom of central screen, that is a bit down where you have to take your eyes of the road and look way down, but still it is okay.


At the central armrest, you have storage underneath In it are the key holders, 12 volts socket and a covering head. Then there is the gear selector, it does looks and feels very prominent and solid with strong grip slider. In front of gear selectors are the cup holders, and a big tray that can be used for wireless charging mobile phones. A good decent space for the door bins. Overall the interior is pretty decent and strong, it even feels expensive and classic. The specialized Mustang logo does remind you that you are not sitting in a typical Ford but rather on a Mustang EV.




In the back, Mach-E is absolutely massive, it's got a really long wheelbase, that is the distance between the front and the rear wheels. Thus, the rear passenger leg room is more then sufficient. A lot more space between legs and front seat. The floor of back seat is also flat, that adds to added comfort for rear passengers.


The panoramic roof on this car is stunning indeed. But one thing is that panoramic roof comes as a part of technology pack, as that is an extended version of this car. The head room at rear seats is very good with no problem for even taller people. This car is really practical enough. You also get decent sized back pockets, and then the usb and usb-c sockets for charging. The door bins are big enough, and of course the rear arm rest with cup-holders feels very good and matches decently with the seats. Once again, all very lovely and a very well done job by Ford.




Boot Capacity and Practicality

Talking about the Mach-E  boot space, so this car has an electronic tailgate.  For this boot, you get you have got 402 liters of space. That is a good amount of space for a vehicle this size. However, comparing the boot space with other same size vehicles, this seems a bit less. Taking example of Vauxhall id4, that car has capacity of  543 liters. But still Mach-E provides a decent volume boot capacity.




So underneath, the boot floor carpet you do not get a spare tire. Other features in the boot include the adjustable boot floor, tie down points, 12-volt charging sockets and lights to illuminate the boot of Mach-E. Folding down the rear seats really adds a huge lot of space for the rear space. Added capacity and much more luggage can be displaced.

For added practicality in this vehicle, as it is an EV so there is well built frunk in it, that is the front end trunk space. Opening the bonnet a very well built and beautifully designed frunk can be seen. An added capacity of 81 liters is attained by using this front space. Smaller bags and medium size luggage can be placed in this space. Another feature for frunk is an emergency button placed in frunk. In case anyone gets locked inside can use this button to open the bonnet.



Plus Points of Ford Mustang Mach-E 2021

  • The exterior door have button in window pan area. The buttons are really easy to press, moreover if you do not want to use a key then there is a pin code facility above the door opening button on window pane that allows you to enter the pin code to open button.
  • Ford has provided a really nice removable fabric sheet for rear screen. The fiber is held by simple clips that hold on or allow it to be removed.
  • A sound dash is built in front dashboard, really nice technological advancement Ford. For Bang & Olufsen sound system, the inbuilt speakers in front dash give indeed an incredible touch the sound.
  • No extra button for opening bonnet. Yes, that means you have to pull the inside cabin lever twice, and bonnet is free to open. This means no pecking in the fingers between the little space of bonnet and finding the lock, such as in traditional vehicles.
  • The interior space of this EV is very spacious. As mentioned before, there is a lot of rear space for passengers, for luggage. Great head room for taller people, this gives Mach-E a great advantage and adds to practicality of this vehicle.
  • The driving range provided by this vehicle is brilliant. Moreover, the quick charging and easy access of charging stations gives an immediate relief from fuel shortcomings.
  • The vehicle powerful motors and a quick launch of 0-60 in just about 3 to 4 seconds does make this car a super highway roller and quick to go type automobile.


Final Verdict

For the final verdict, I would say the electric vehicle is a very good option to consider. For the people who are well in the go with latest tech and innovation and do consider the option of electric car. Then this SUV is a definitely to be tried. The look is fantastic, together with the premium and high-end feeling interior. The spacious interior and boot space options adds on to the practical advantage of this car. The quick launch, amazing driving assist features make this SUV an amazingly engineered automobile by Ford. Go with this car, surely if you are into electric vehicles, but if you prefer all that high rev engines and petrol powers, manual gears then there are lot of options for that purpose.
