Overview

This is the latest and new Honda Civic 2022. What you can see is the actual production version of the the 11th generation Civic. The time is long gone when Honda was only seen as a large scale motor-cycle manufacturers. Over the time the company has progressed immensely and became one of the pioneers in developing racing, sports and aggressive style motor cars. Staring motor car production, the Civic line introduced by Honda saw a compelling shift in 7th generation, when the sedan shaped by Honda motors got a very positive attitude from car lovers. Afterwards, the on coming 8th, 9th and 10th generations of Honda Civic also observed a welcoming notion from car lovers. And now we can clearly see the newest 11th generation production unit, as confirmed from April 28th, 2021. Though Honda has given a gesture that price value of this new Civic will not be much different from current 10th generation. An estimate of around $20,000 up till $25,000 is suggested. However, the exact price value is to be released later on.


Exterior and Design


For the exterior styling of Honda Civic 2022, the car is very skilled and toned properly. The car looks more refined from the previous version, and even it seems as an effectual up-scaling of the previous version. An arrow shaped fin can be seen on the deck lid, symbolizing the sportier touch given by Honda. An embedded natural rear spoiler can be seen on the back of the car. The boot side is more flattened as compared to 10th generation Civic which sometimes, seemed as a hatchback from certain angles. The 'H' of Honda together with Civic logo can be clearly seen by the chrome garnish given to it. 


Speaking of the tail lights, we can see that Honda has clearly not retained the famous C-shaped rear lamps. We can see a more upscaled, and larger version of rear lights installed on this version. It looks quite stunning, coupled with the lines and curves for rear bumper and boot. However, the elongated lamps together with the remaining half of light tinted as black does gives a decent and much more sportier look on 11th generation Civic. 


On the side, the car really does wonders. The overall length has increased to 184". As said before, the car does look bigger then the previous versions. Honda has even pulled the A-pillar, 2" back, which in turn, gives the hood of the car a more longer, wider and bigger look overall. Now this special tactic by Honda has resulted in a real good look for this car. This also does make this car seem like a complete beast. The swooping character lines, on the side, moves on till the rear of vehicle giving a nice wider profile to car.





Now Honda has indeed done a great job for the front of the vehicle. The front of this new Honda Civic looks a lot more aggressive. Less curvature is used in front, featuring more of what seems as straight line styling with minimal curves. This gives a very distinctive and beautiful look to this Civic. Moreover, the straight line front grills are designed to be more wider. The trims are given black color touch, that gives a perfect combo with other colors. The front bumper is redesigned and upscaled at a same time. The front headlights are LED with eyebrow style day time running lamps (DRLs). What is keenly observed in this 11th generation Civic is that the car somewhat adopts its shape from Accord series of Honda. Already several car lovers have given opinion that this Civic is seen as a lite version of Accord. But overall, the car front is wider, with longer hood and aggressive front styling, giving this Civic a very distinguished look from its predecessors. 


Engine, Transmission and Mechanics

The new 11th Generation Honda Civic comes in two variants. Both variants differ from the main engine perspective. A little specification and interior changing is also there.

1. For the first one we have a 158 hp, 2.0 L four cylinder Petrol Engine. The engine is capable of producing 138 pound feet of Torque. 

2. The second version includes 188 hp, 1.5 L Turbo-four cylinder Engine. It is capable of producing a hefty Torque of 177 lb. ft.

Both the versions are front wheel drives, with the engine power going through a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). The CVT transmission system is even upgraded including the Shift Logic, that is gear transition under high speeds and higher accelerations. Giving the driver a higher control over the vehicle under speed. Paddle shifters and an enhanced sports mode together with normal and eco modes are also in place.


Standard 2.0 L Engine


1.5 L Turbo Engine

In addition to engine tweaks, Honda has worked up to developing newer low-friction ball joints and damper mounts for its improved Macpherson Strut Suspension System. This gives a better driving performance, steering responsiveness and stability of this new generation Civic. There is even a slight change in rear axle, it is a little wider in back then in front, this improves the driving stability and gives much better response in overall driving, sharp turning and road grip, as claimed by Honda engineers. The car will be featuring matte black 19" alloy wheels. All of which will be either Si or type R hardware. The Wheel Base has even increased by 1.4", that means more space inside the car.  




Interior Design

The interior of the 11th Generation Honda Civic is far more improved and gives a much more premium feels. The dashboard is far more horizontal then before. Moreover, it is much more cleanly designed. Especially, the honeycomb trim on front looks very elegant. Although, it might be a little hard to clean, but it definitely looks stunning. The honeycomb trim also disguises the air vents.


The air vents are controlled by those specifically placed joysticks. It really does look and feel cool to control the direction of air vents with those popping out joysticks. The overall feel of dashboard is amazing, and Honda does have used soft plastic on dashboard, it does feel a bit compromising, but the styling is very new and elegant. The switches and control knobs are indeed of better quality then previous generations.


The infotainment system in this car includes a 9'' display system. The screen styling is observed to be same as that in Accord, but still it gives a perfect combination with the flat dashboard. The system also includes Apple Car-play and Android Auto. The system is connected wirelessly, and is attached with an amazing 12-speaker Bose audio system. The central console system includes a traditional mechanical shifter, classy cup-holders with some space to hold little twinkies. Beneath the control switched it has a 12-volt pin point and usb charging socket.

The high fabric leather seat, and seating postures adds on to the comfort of the car. As we know, the wheelbase has been increased, this allows a much open and spacious cabin. The rear passenger leg room as well as head room is more than spacious in this 11th generation Civic. 


Boot Space and Practicality

The boot space of new Civic 2022 is 419 -liters of total space. This is a 100-liter reduction from current generation Civic. Even with the reduced space of boot, the overall body of car has increased length and width. 




Even with this reduced boot space, still it has a lot of capacity for up to 3 bags and lot of more stuff can fit in.

Apart from boot space, from a practical point of view, the car offers decent features. The spacious door bins, dashboard space, cup holders, and seat pockets gives passengers enough room to settle in with little twinkies. Even split rear seat back option is available in new Civic. This means that rear seats can be folded to add space in vehicle.

Safety Features of 11th Gen Civic

Honda has put quite a lot of hard work in safety section for this vehicle. Many new safety features have been installed in 11th generation Honda Civic that are completely new, and not seen in current generation Civic. 

  • Driver assistance features are made available from standard and base version model.
  • Automated emergency breaking with pedestrian detection.
  • Adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assists.
  • Multi-angle rear view camera, allowing different modes of rear view from camera.
  • Honda Lanewatch makes lane changing easier, side lane warnings and displays fom camera on passenger side mirror.
  • Honda Sensing Suite, an exclusive package offering Collision Mitigation Breaking System (CBMS) that senses any unavoidable collision and applies special pressure brakes.
  • Honda Sensing Suite, an exclusive package offering Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) that senses any sudden lane changes or lane changing without indication, thus controls steering to and braking for safety purpose.
  • Auto High Beam Headlights, when driving around 25 mph at night, the light lever is in auto, then the headlights will operate automatically according to surrounding conditions.
  • Blind spot information system while turning indicator and turning vehicle in that direction.
  • A total of 12 air bags installed in Civic 2022





Final Verdict

As for the final verdict, the 11th generation Honda Civic 2022 is definitely a remarkable piece of engineering. The car dimensions have been increased all around. The front look is incredible indeed. Overall car shape looks very beautiful. The interior is also accompanied by a major change, and feels very premium in this class. The comfort level and amazing safety features make this automobile extra-ordinary. There might be much more loaded cars then this one, but in this price category, I think Honda does give a great car for everyday use mixed with some sportier feelings. As a result Civic 2022 will indeed be a very tough competition for its competitors like Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan and Volkswagen.
