It was the early 20th century when vehicles were just starting to become popular. Back then what really set them back, was the fact that technology wasn't there neither was the infrastructure. But now in the 21st century it is most certain that there is a lot of appeal and excitement behind electric vehicles. For a car enthusiast, though the sound of v8 or v12 is the most fascinating. But looking onto these electric vehicles, these are the way of the future and they really are more eco-friendly and efficient. More importantly, the technology is there to support these vehicles such is the infrastructure there. But also keeping in mind the long lasting battery life, where you now have vehicles like the Model Y. They can get up to 326 miles of range, so theoretically you could own a Tesla Model Y and not have a gas powered vehicle in the garage. This can be your daily driver.
The Tesla Model Y is the latest crossover for this young company. Giving buyers an affordable yet practical electric vehicle, that at the moment is unrivalled. Starting off, with pricing the Model Y long range comes in at forty four thousand six hundred ninety dollars ($44,699). The model also allows an additional ten thousand dollar($10,000) full self driving capability package.
Tesla Model Y has a lower center of gravity and only has a ground clearance of 6.6 inches. This makes it look like a simple car. But, when looking at the side profile the crossover light body style immediately becomes apparent. Taking a look inside we can see just how much more practical this crossover really is. When it comes to the design of exterior, Tesla sticks to simplicity and minimalism, almost paralleling our perceptions of what the cars of the future would look like specifically. This is the case specifically for the Model Y. The point of these vehicles are to be affordable and efficient, rather than drawing your attention like a mainstream luxury car would.
Unlike most crossovers Model Y has a car-like road presence. It lacks the rugged cosmetic features we see on most gas powered vehicles. Also without a front grille there's no real aggressive styling. For the long range you will have the option to go with 19 or 20 inch wheels. and if you're looking for the most comfort and ride quality going with the 19s might be a better decision. As we take a glance at the rear fascia, the Model Y sports back like roofline gives this vehicle a more performance oriented appeal. This can be compared to BMW X4 and GLC coupe. When it comes to styling, there is the addition of plastic cladding. But our guess is that you'll likely never take the Model Y off-road and this is more for decoration rather than functionality.
Since there's no gas-powered motor under the hood you will have a frunk for additional storage. Frunk is the trunk in front. You could likely fit a couple of bags of groceries.
Getting to the performance the Model Y long range will have dual electric motors. Giving this EV an efficient all-wheel drive. More importantly it will be having 384 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque from those motors. With a 0 - 60 time around only 4.8 seconds, that is fast though. Tesla claims you'll have a range of right around 325 miles. This is more than adequate for most consumers and is actually capable of being a road trip vehicle.
Stepping inside, the minimalism continues as you'll be greeted by power adjustable heated seats for both the driver and passenger. Now, your attention will be definitely drawn by the fact that unlike every car you've ever owned, there's no gauge cluster, speedometers and dials. This is because all the information you want to see can be found on the 15 inch touchscreen. Thus, your speedometer, navigation system, front release latch, power liftgate, headlights, side mirror adjustments, and telescopic steering column can all be accessed from this screen of course.
To adjust the positions of the side mirrors and steering wheel you can use the buttons mounted on the steering wheel. As a result, this helps eliminate button clutter on steering wheel and dash. The only other physical buttons you'll find in the interior are on the door rests. Rest assured, without question this center unit has the most in-depth user interface you'll ever find in a vehicle today. However, there is no apple car-play or android compatibility so definitely keep that in mind. Though is the fact. that the Model Y feels very computerized in this regard. For the interior layout, the front dash is pretty simple and straight. There is no gauge cluster in front of you. Everything is all in this 15 inch touchscreen which is stunning indeed. The fact that it is horizontal rather than vertical, this actually seems a little bit more natural to me rather than it being vertical. The ford mustang maki has a vertical touch screen which might have force you to take some time to get used to
Providing additional safety features in Model Y, you will have a variety of camera angles to make parking easier. You will have a wireless phone charging pad little below the central console. Than there are a few storage compartments and two cupholders. The design is pretty simplistic and rounding out. Above the front seating area will be a massive panoramic sunroof making the interior appear to be much bigger than in reality. For passengers in the back there is plenty of legroom to work with. Moreover, tall passengers will not have any problem when it comes to headroom. Legroom slightly might be a slight squeeze for tall passengers, but they can manage pretty well easily. For average size adults it is a perfect back seat.
One thing we are going to see a lot more of with electric cars is the fact that when they say it's a five seater vehicle or five passenger vehicle it most certainly is. Looking at most gas-powered vehicles, they have a very aggressive center hump in the middle that actually makes it somewhat impossible to fit an advertised adult in the center. So really those vehicles just become perfect for just two people on back seat. What Tesla did is that they have designed the floor completely flat. They also extended it where one can actually stretch his legs to a certain degree. Tesla says that you can fit a third row in the Model Y. This statement introduces some doubt in mind, a bit skeptical on this one. I think it can be tight for those passengers in the back also headroom can be a issue . But overall, the car and back seats are all pretty impressive.
On the driver's side Tesla has again given plenty of legroom to work with. Most certainly, for a family the Model Y is definitely going to be the way to go. It is also more practical for longer road trips. You can definitely have that third person at the back also. That is truly amazing and adds to practicality of this vehicle. The thing about these electric cars is the fact that they're a little more practical in more ways than one. They are efficient, they do have some decent cargo space. And you can definitely fit that third passenger in the center. Overall Tesla definitely has a winner on their hands, just because we look at the pricing for the Model Y it's hard to beat. It's hard to look elsewhere. Also in the rear seats, you do get two air vents, along with two usb-c inputs. In addition to this, is the central arm rest with two cupholders.
Coming around to the back, you are going to receive a power liftgate just above the vehicle registration plate. Inside you can find plenty of room here, Tesla does not give specific numbers behind the second row seats but for a guess based off of other vehicles of this size you will be having around 30 to 35 cubic feet of room. This would be on par with vehicles like the Audi q5 and BMW X4. With the second row seats folded that space doubles in size. Based off of my calculations the space increases to around 68 to 70 cubic feet. So, overall this vehicle has plenty of room it's definitely practical for long road trips with the family. If you do have luggage with you, you can definitely fit four or five bags of luggage back here easily, even with the second row seats up.
Apart from this you will be having deep side pockets where you can fit smaller items, maybe even water bottles, car detail equipment. Then, even beneath the cargo floor you have more space for storage so this vehicle is practical in more ways than one.
Tesla has introduced this new concept of regenerative braking. Thus, the driver has to keep his foot on accelerator to drive the vehicle. When accelerator foot is taken off regenerative braking kicks in and it slows down the car effectively. Making this a vehicle where you could just drive with one foot on the pedal without having to tap the brake. This is actually pretty cool that is wild. You do not even touch the break and the car slows down, it literally stops on its own. This is something very new, and is an advanced concept for latest driving.
Another thing is really cool, that if you're not paying attention to the traffic lights it tells you when those traffic lights turn green. Now this is something extraordinary and actually pretty cool. One thing that has been observed closely about Tesla is the fact that the interiors are very well insulated. You do have dual pane glass. It feels very quiet inside no sounds from outside. During driving, there is very little to no road noise, this adds to silence and quietness of this car.
With the battery placements, you do have a nice lower center of gravity so you feel very planted to the road. Not much of a fan of electric cars, but still this car is pretty much impressive in most aspects. Moreover, the simultaneous system that tells where the cars are, this makes it a very safe vehicle as well. The center of gravity, the interior seats and driving feels of Model Y make it feel like a car more rather then a crossover. Apart from this, is the fact of speeding in this car. There is no sound and no engine, thus you have no perception of speed. It requires some time to get used to.
Talking of the charging stations, Tesla have really conveniently placed charging stations, and it's perfect so you can go to the mall you can hang out there for minutes and then you can come back with a more than an adequate amount of range to work with. Talking from a car enthusiast point of view, this car is literally something. The looks are though compromised, but still not a single panel gap, vibration or misalignment in body. The interior feels stunning, the minimalist theme together with central console, offers a very changed yet convincing environment. The driving sensation is even more astonishing. The all-new regenerative brakes technology together with amazing torque and power offered by those motors makes this car wonderful to drive.
Model y is actually pretty nicely put together. I think a lot of the criticisms are coming from people who are afraid of electro technology. They are afraid of EVs, they are afraid of losing their nicely sounding cars. As an enthusiast I do share that pain, I can feel that concern, but I can no longer deny the necessity and impressive performance of Tesla. I cannot deny why someone would actually want them and buy them. Thus, Tesla will indeed revolutionize the automobile industry soon. It has already done it upto some extent.
