Now this black coloring really suits well with every other color. This does gives a perfect color combination for Mercedes-AMG GLB 35. The AMG version also rides about 50 millimeters lower than standard GLB.
Standard Version of GLB 35, without AMG edition |
One thing to keep in mind is that if you are buying an SUV to ride at a higher driving position, then keep in mind that this AMG version sits low then the standard version.
At the front this SUV does looks really stunning. The most obvious change being the AMG slated grill in front. It really looks cool and goes good with the big Mercedes logo in center. There is a redesigned front bumper. The protruding apron at lower end of front bumper does adds to the sportier touch of this SUV.
There are also two vents on each side at front. They have little opening on sides over the wheel, this does aids in air flow over the vehicle. Now this adds on to the aerodynamics and drag reduction for this SUV. A nice racing and sports engineering done by Mercedes for this version. Talking of the headlights, they are the upgraded headlights you get on AMG version. You get the multi-beam LEDs overall.
Overall, the design seems incredible. There is this special thing Mercedes has done by combining the boxier look of an SUV, and adding real aggressive sports elements in it. Thus, Mercedes AMG GLB 35 does has a plus point for its exterior and stunning looks.
Engine, Power, Transmission and Mechanics
Talking of the engine of AMG GLB 35, this is one of the main things you will be paying extra money for. 2021 Mercedes AMG GLB 35 comes in 2.0L Turbo-Petrol Engine. It is a 4 cylinder turbo-charges engine. The engine gives 306 hp and a cumulative torque of 400 Nm. The SUV is a 4 wheel drive, though has a 2-wheel drive mode that is front wheel drive mode as well, and the wheels are driven through an 8-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox with launch control.
This AMG version of the GLB 35 gets specific rear wheel hubs, they are stiffer so they can cope with more lateral forces, during extreme driving. At the front, there is a new steering knuckle control arms and a more stiffer front subframe as well, to help improve the handling of car. Mercedes has also fitted this car with stiffer sportier suspension. This prevents it leaning and mishandling in sharp turns. Moreover, to make the most of these upgrades, it comes with Michelin pilot sport 4S- tires for maximum grip. AMG have also given an upgraded version of the brakes, 350 millimeter discs up front and 330 millimeters at the back. This, together with the sporty brake calipers which are painted silver and AMG written on them, gives aesthetics in conjunction with performance for GLB 35.
Interior Design
On the inside of this new 2021 Mercedes AMG GLB 35, we have many new upgrades that differ the SUV from its standard version of GLB 35. AMG GLB 35 includes a sports steering wheel covered in nice well perforated leather. A little increased size for the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.
Carbon fiber trim is used on doors and at front dash. It does have this special pattern, looks nice and cool, the combination with black dash.
There are also electrically operated sportier seats, as compared to normal GLB 35. The seats of AMG version are covered with real leather as compared to standard normal GLB 35 having a special fabric depicting leather, but is not real leather. The car also includes black floor mats with AMG badging on it, looks pretty cool. Then there are very nicely designed AMG sill plates. Plus aluminum paddles for the foot.
For the central console, AMG version provides with the fully upgraded version of infotainment system. The system consists of two large screens, preventing a lot of gauge cluster in front. The displays have certain AMG performance screens on them as well. This includes the boost meter, horsepower and torque. This really does take you to next level in controlling and experiencing each performance parameter while driving. The front layout is pretty clear and nicely made. It does looks amazing and feels premium as Mercedes is good with designing interiors.
For the back seats, the leatheriness on the seats continues, a lot of space for the rear passengers. As it is a SUV, so no leg room or head room compromises on GLB 35. It also gets panoramic glass roof as standard, letting a good amount of light inside the cabin. Now Mercedes has made this performance vehicle also as a 7-seater. But, in order to get back onto the seats behind back seats. They are t be reclined. Now for the back end seat, the legroom and headroom both are indeed very less. Sitting at the back end seats is definitely not for adults, but only for children. Mercedes have made this SUV as a performance car, then why add a 7-seater option compromising the space. Well this is surely a downer for Mercedes, but again you can carry 7 people somehow.
Boot space and Practicality
The boot space for this new Mercedes AMG GLB 35 is indeed a lot. Then again, only a lot spacious if the back end seats are not in ready-to-sit position. With the rear seats down, it provides a total of 500 liters of space. It does look lot more spacious due to the square shape and square room provided by the SUV. With the rear seat inclined in ready position, the space is reduced to 130 liter. That is still quite practical for carrying some luggage together with 7 people.

Plus Points of 2021 Mercedes AMG GLB 35
- AMG GLB 35 comes fully loaded as a standard version. This means the cost is the fixed you will be paying, no more additional charges for cool features. All those cool features, come as standard. For example, 8-speed transmission, blacked windows, spoilers, vents, interior design, gauge clusters and everything.
- Compared to simple GLB 35, the AMG version comes as an 8-speed automatic transmission as compared to normal 7-speed transmission offered in simple GLB. More gears means more speed, more acceleration, efficient usage of fuel and better driving.
- This car comes with adaptive dampers, with three different modes as soft, medium and hard.
- The interior of AMG version is indeed stunning and high tech. Carbon fiber type texture, leathery seats, amazing layout of front dashboard, plus plenty of space.
Final Verdict
For the final verdict of this car, I would say Mercedes has done pretty well in manufacturing their seven seater performance SUV. The car is worth it definitely, with that performance and sportier out looks. And having a lot of room inside for seven people. Thus, combining two very different tings together. However, it has been noted that this SUV has a little down side when it comes to fuel average. Moreover, The SUV is okay and fine. But if budget is an issue, then simple GLB 35 is a nice option as compared to this one. Whatsoever, it does offer a better, premium experience as found in many subcompact entry-level luxury crossover.
